As I celebrate 5 years to be married, I look back at my own wedding planning and 5 years later I can tell you from my point of view as the bride's what I was glad I did and what I wish I had done.
My wedding is my inspiration to start my business plan a wedding that is considerably more years and have helped many couples have their dream day. What I learned from my wedding I went to the wedding couples that I help plan and now I want to go to the wedding of wisdom for you.
What I would do it again ...
1) Simon's wife must be a bit cheesy in this article, because after all I was 5 years wedding anniversary as I write this. But I would not change a man if I had to do it all over again.
2) Write Our Own Vows-Simon and I spent very little time to write their own vows for our wedding. It was so worth it. It is part of our wedding that I am most careful. We actually spent a lot of time designing all of our celebrations with our priest. Cool thing, that same priest would baptize our new son Declan in a few weeks.
3) Plan together-We planned our wedding together. That was not locked in a room of planning by ourselves. Simon was very involved, so our wedding was a reflection of both our personality and that has made it a lot of fun.
4) to extend the Party-We planned a wedding weekend in Banff, and all our friends and family made a vacation. We went rafting, sightseeing, and generally entertained all over Banff. It was an absolute blast.
What I would change ...
1) I became a fan of flowers-I went to an inexpensive way and did not do my due diligence when it comes to choosing my florist. Oh wonderful florists now I know that might want to design my wedding flowers! My wedding flowers have died over the pictures and when my bridesmaids asked, can you throw your bouquet I said, "sure, but they are down to the river and take a photo with you." And this is where we get the most amazing picture ... lemonade from lemons!
2) Pro-photographer I must say that I love my wedding video, but my husband laughs and says that IKEA wedding videos ... we had to put it together yourself. Our friends videotaped the day, but I ended up doing video editing myself. I like to watch it on our anniversary, or if I'm super mad at Simon (hey-it makes you remember why I love him!) and if I do it again I would put some of the budget by December cameraman.
3) I wanted to eat-one of the biggest pieces of advice I give my brides is you have to eat during the day. I look back at my pictures and I remember dying of hunger! I'd eaten something that you can really see how exhausted I was in my wedding photo that makes me very upset. I perk up again in the photos at the reception, but by then it was too late.
Bridal Advice
The biggest thing I would do again is have my team to help in the day. While we were in the very early stages, the Firefly was there as a wedding coordinator making sure that everything I had planned to come to life. I did not have to set up, tear down, or dealing with the nitty gritty on my wedding day and I will forever be grateful for it.
